  1. I am the main applicant. I can show proof of liquid assets under my name but I don’t have any offshore income. Can I show monthly offshore income of at least RM10,000.00 under my wife's name?

    It is compulsory for the main applicant to show proof of liquid assets and offshore income. Income received from spouse can only be accepted if the main applicant’s financial capability is insufficient and only acts as supportive/ additional document. However, the income from the main applicant MUST be at least 70% out of the total minimum offshore income.

  3. Can I place the fixed deposit in a Malaysian bank located in my country?

    No. The Fixed Deposit Account MUST be opened in any Malaysian bank or financial institution located in Malaysia.

  5. When can I withdraw my fixed deposit?
  6. _____________

    After a period of one year, participant may withdraw his/ her fixed deposit for approved expenses relating to property purchase, car purchase, medical expenses, education for children in Malaysia or when the participant terminated from the programme.

  7. Can I withdraw my fixed deposit at any time during my stay in Malaysia?
  8. _____________

    Some banks allow periodical withdrawals of interest earned on participant’s Fixed Deposit Account. This is subject to the bank's policy and negotiation at the time of opening the account with the bank concerned. Please refer to banking portal www.bankinginfo.com.my for current rates and terms.

  9. Am I allowed to withdraw my fixed deposit for a few months and then topped it back later?

    Participant is required to place the fixed deposit on annual auto renewal basis.


  1. Can I do medical check-up in my country?

    Medical check-up must be done in registered clinics or hospital in Malaysia only.

  3. Can I do Medical check-up first before getting approval? What is the medical check-up package should I take? (For example, general screening? Pre-employment package?)

    It is advisable for the applicant to do a medical check-up with hospital or clinic in Malaysia after their application has been approved. A standard medical check-up that complements with the requirements as per the medical report form (RBII) is sufficient.

  5. Are dependents required to obtain the medical insurance?

    Dependents are required to obtain the medical insurance that is applicable in Malaysia from any insurance company. However, exemptions may be given to those who have difficulty in obtaining the medical insurance due to their age or medical condition.


  1. What is the period given to do the endorsement of MM2H pass after the issuance of Conditional Approval Letter?

    Approved applicant will be given duration of six (6) months from the issuance date of Conditional Approval Letter to do the endorsement.

  3. Can I delay my endorsement process? If yes, please provide the guidelines.

    As stated in the Conditional Approval Letter, approved applicant is required to do the endorsement within six (6) months period from the issuance date and the letter is NOT renewable.

  5. How do I apply for the Visa With Reference (VDR) at the MM2H Immigration Unit?

    To request for Visa With Reference (VDR), please prepare documents as listed below:

    1. Letter of intent;
    2. Copy of passport (personal particulars page and last exit stamp); and
    3. Copy of Conditional Approval Letter.

  7. Can my family enter Malaysia with passport’s validity less than six (6) months?

    Those with passport’s validity less than six (6) months are NOT allowed to enter Malaysia.

  9. My family (wife & kids) have two citizenships (Venezuelan & Spain). Is it possible to transfer the MM2H Visa stamped in our Venezuelan passport to our Spain passport which has longer expiry period?

    Transfer of endorsement into a different passport (eg. From Venezuela passport to Spain passport) is prohibited and will NOT be entertained. Please note that applicant is NOT allowed to change to other passport once they apply for MM2H programme.

  11. Are MM2H dependents required to pay the security bond?

    Only main applicant is required to pay the security bond.


  1. For renewal after ten (10) years, why do I need to submit my Fixed Deposit Certificate for the renewal process as I want to use proof of Offshore Income?

    Participant who is approved on Offshore Income are required to provide Current Proof of Three (3)-Month’s Government Pension of at least RM10,000.00 per month. Meanwhile, participant who is approved on Fixed Deposit are required to provide Original and Copy of Fixed Deposit and Original and Copy of Confirmation Letter from Bank.

  3. For renewal after ten (10) years, can I courier the necessary copies of documents to your Office first? I will bring the original documents separately at the end of the 14-day processing period?

    Participant is NOT allowed to courier the documents. In fact, participant MUST submit the required documents and be present directly at the MM2H Immigration Unit.

  5. For renewal of ten (10) years under Fixed Deposit, how much amount should I maintain?
  6. _____________

    If participant opens a Fixed Deposit Account under MM2H programme, he/she is required to provide the original fixed deposit certificate. If the participant has already withdrawn partial of the fixed deposit, he/she is required to provide the fixed deposit certificate (original and copy) with the minimum balance maintained.

  1. If my MM2H visa expired several years ago, do I still have to terminate the visa?

    Participant must do the termination of the visa at the MM2H Immigration Unit in order to release the fixed deposit.

  1. Do we need to inform MM2H Centre if the participant passed away?

    Next of kin should inform MM2H Centre if the participant, whether the principal or dependent passed away. When the principal passed away, the dependent can apply for the termination of the main applicant's MM2H Social Visit Pass and subsequently, appeal for Change of Principal. MM2H Immigration Unit will no longer accept Change of Principal application if the death is not reported within three (3) months.

  1. How do I terminate the Domestic Helper pass?

    The participant is required to be present at the MM2H Immigration Unit and bring the following documents:

    1. Letter of intent to terminate the maid;
    2. Copy of Principal passport (particular and MM2H pass pages);
    3. Copy of domestic helper's passport (particular and working pass pages); and
    4. Copy of domestic helper's flight ticket. (Date of departure must be within 1 month or before the expiry of the working pass, whichever comes first)
  3. What is the maximum age for Domestic Helper?

    The age requirement for Domestic Helper ranges from 21 to 45 years old.


  1. Can dependents (children) study in Malaysia?
  2. _____________

    Dependents (children below 18 years old) are only allowed to study in primary and secondary school in Malaysia by using MM2H pass. They are required to apply for “Permission To Study” from the MM2H Immigration Unit. If the dependents wish to pursue tertiary education, they have to terminate their MM2H dependent pass and apply for Student Pass.

  3. Are dependents (children) allowed to attend government school? Or they have to attend international (private) school only?

    They are allowed to attend both government and private school. However, for government (public) school, applicant must obtain approval from the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.

  5. Do the dependents (children) need to acquire Student Visa to attend kindergarten in Malaysia?
  6. _____________

    Children below 7 years old are NOT required to apply for Student Visa. They are required to apply “Permission to Study” via the MM2H Immigration Unit.


  1. Can I set up a fully owned business (factory, shops etc) under my name and being appointed as Executive Director/MD/CEO?
  2. _____________

    Participant can be a director of a Malaysian company, so long as he:

    1. is a non-executive director;
    2. does not receive any remuneration or salary from his position in the company (as this would mean that he has to pay for income tax); and
    3. does not involved in the day to day operation of the company.

    MM2H participant can invest into any existing company but his/her shares should be less than 50 % (so that the investor/ participant won't be the majority shareholder. Majority shareholder would be construed as an active partner in such business). If the participant wishes to be an executive director (active) and hold more than 50% of shares in the company, he/she must terminate the MM2H pass and apply for Working Pass from the Immigration Department of Malaysia.


  1. How do I sell my MM2H tax exempted car?
  2. _____________

    Before 1 January 2017, participant is only allowed to sell their imported/ locally purchased car after 2 years stay on the programme. If the participant wish to sell his/her imported/ locally purchase car, the participant is subject for repayment of import duty, and excise duty according to the prevailing rates. After 1 January 2017, participant is only allowed to sell/transfer ownership of the exempted vehicle after five (5) years from the date of registration of the vehicle with the consent of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department. The duties, based on the current evaluation determined by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, need to be paid before the transfer of ownership takes place.


  1. Am I required to purchase property in Malaysia to be in this Programme?

    Property purchase is not a pre-requisite for participating in the Programme. Participant may also rent any residential property in Malaysia.

  3. Are there any special entitlements for house purchase?
  4. _____________

    All participants are allowed to purchase residential properties at the minimum purchase price for foreigners established by the respective state governments. Land is a state matter and it is important to check the state laws before making any commitment, as the minimum purchase price is not standardized between states.

  5. Must foreigners buy new Malaysia property only, such as from developers, or can they purchase any property, such as from individual owners (second hand or third hand property)?

    Participants can purchase any type of residential properties provided that they have been issued with CF (Certificate of Fitness).


  1. Am I allowed to apply for Permanent Residence or Citizenship status in future?

    Participant is NOT eligible for Permanent Residence or Citizenship in Malaysia.
